Summary
The Industry Manager is responsible for the overall Business Development and technical compliance required to meet client requirements, National & International standards for improving the performance and efficiency. He must have experience in an operational role, Strong decision-making capabilities, code interpretation and delegation skills as & when needed and must ensure that the Inspections are carried out in accordance with ISO 17020: 2012 requirements
Role and Responsibilities
- Strategic Role
Business Development & Client Relations
- Identify industry opportunities and expand client base.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, OEMs, and end-users.
- Negotiate techno-commercial proposals and contracts with clients.
Market Intelligence
- Track industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities.
- Provide insights for positioning TPIA services in any new sectors.
- Technical Responsibilities
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure inspections are aligned with IS/IEC/ISO/API/ASTM/ASME standards and client technical documents (PO/Tech. Spec./QAP/Drawings etc.).
- Interpret technical specifications and map them to compliance requirements.
- Guide inspection teams on technical methodologies and quality assurance.
Project Oversight
- Supervise inspection schedules, resource allocation, and reporting.
- Resolve technical disputes between clients and inspection teams.
- Validate inspection reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Commercial Responsibilities
Proposal & Pricing
- Prepare techno-commercial bids for tenders and projects.
- Balance technical scope with cost efficiency to ensure competitiveness.
- Approve quotations, invoices, and financial terms with clients.
Revenue & Cost Management
- Monitor project profitability and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure timely billing and collection of payments.
- Support management in budgeting and forecasting.
- Leadership & Coordination
Team Management
- Lead inspectors, engineers, and coordinators in multi-disciplinary projects.
- Conduct training sessions on standards, compliance, and client handling.
- Mentor junior staff in both technical and commercial aspects.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with finance, legal, and operations teams for smooth execution.
- Act as the bridge between technical experts and commercial decision-makers.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare MIS reports on inspection activities, revenue, and client feedback.
- Document compliance mapping for audits and trustee presentations.
- Present structured dashboards and flowcharts for management review.
- Delegate responsibilities to the Operations Manager in his absence.
- Ensure that the IIVSIPL IMS and ISO 17020: 2012 Type A requirements with regard to work within the Country are implemented and ISO 9000,14000 & 45000 certifications are maintained.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
- Min 12 years of Industry experience or 7 years’ experience in the field of Third Party inspection.
- Shall be technically competent to deal with day-to-day technical issue and impart training to the IIVSIPL Sr. Surveyors / Surveyors / Field Inspector.
- Working knowledge of National and International Codes and Specification like IS, ASME, EN standards etc.
- Strong communication skills and Good interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of the IIVSIPL IMS Manual and ISO 17020:2012 Type A
